Web3 is blooming: discover Luna Ikuta and her “Afterlife” series

Hey there!

Just in case you missed it, last week we introduced the second artist that will be part of Vanity Fair’s meta-museum in collaboration with Valuart: Luna Ikuta, a Japanese-American artist that enhances the everlasting cycle of life, death and rebirth within her works.

On April 21st, expect to see more of her series “Afterlife”, where Nature merges with technology to ultimately embrace a new form in eternity… But during the wait, you can read the full interview by Davide Piacenza here.

Jumping onto the crypto news for this week, BTC seems to be stable at the moment, with lower volatility than what we are used to…Speaking of BTC, did you know that Norway is considered a “Green Oasis” for Bitcoin mining?

Norway has in fact almost 0.77% of the global BTC hash rate, with a huge portion powered by hydropower. On a broader level, data from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) shows that Norway’s electricity mix is 100% renewable, with 88% hydro and 10% wind, meaning that Bitcoin miners in Norway are exclusively using “green” energy.

But that’s not all: miners are getting creative with the use of the heat that comes from mining! For example, German company Bluebite is currently investigating whether channeling the heat generated by Bitcoin mining could somehow farm strawberries or even provide heating to local populations during the colder months. Just a couple months ago, in the Netherlands, a miner was heating greenhouses to grow, produce and bloom “Bitcoin flowers.” Electricity bills somehow become sweeter with all the perks!

Other than that, Musk took nearly a $3B Stake in Twitter, and Dogecoin followed along.

We all saw Elon’s tweet about Twitter last week, but nobody saw this move coming: he is now the largest shareholder. What changes should we be expecting to Twitter?

They call it the famous Elon effect after any Tweet or move this man makes: the price of his notable meme coin dogecoin (DOGE) jumped almost 10% several minutes after the news came out, and SHIB followed, rising around 5% at the time of writing.

Will $DOGE become Twitter’s official payment token?

There have also been some pretty cool things cooking in the Metaverse…For starters, Snoop Dogg has just dropped his newest music video for his song “House I Built”, and it takes place in the renowned Ethereum-based gaming metaverse, The Sandbox.

Snoop later commented: “The ‘House I Built’ track draws a parallel between how I’ve constructed my life and career and how I’m building out my Snoopverse virtual world in The Sandbox. Whether in the Metaverse or the universe, it’s about keeping it real, being yourself and making the most of every opportunity.”

We all remember when a fan bought a $450,000 worth of virtual just to be Snoop Dogg’s neighbor back in December…Well now, no need to do that. The Snoopverse will be a place where Snoop Dogg’s avatar will perform exclusive concerts only accessible to his fans…The music video “House I Built” is just a glimpse at what is to come.

Trending in the NFT space…The Anime-inspired Azuki NFT collection is with no doubt the winner this week, seeing an ATH with Azuki 9605, the second rarest, selling for 420.69 ETH ($1.4M) on OpenSea.

Both the community and floor have no intention of losing their grip, making Azuki the third most sold collection over the last 30 days.

But the creators will not limit themselves solely to this collection: rumors have it that they are already exploring future expansion similar to what the Bored Ape Yacht Club has done over the last few months. So we are to expect an imminent release of exclusive merch for holders, potentially a metaverse, and token called BEAN.

Also trending is Fewoworld’s NFT Paint drop, which at the beginning of this week sold over $20M USD in just 24 hours on Nifty Gateway.

Victor, aka Fewocious, is a 19-year old artist that started getting into NFTs for the first time back in September 2020, when he sold his first digital “She Makes Me Feel Alive” for around 10 ETH ($6000 at that time).

Since then, he has grown in the space and had his name featured alongside Two Feet, RTKFT Studios and Christie’s Auction – the youngest artist ever to be featured by Christie’s, but also the first to crash their website back in June 2021.

Izzy’s Book Club

Usually I eat a book a week, a week and a half at most but I am still mid-way through with the book I suggested a couple week’s back, “Bitcoin is Venice” by Allan Farrington and Sacha Meyers.

image

Not because I do not like the book, that’s not the case at all, but more because it is so rich of information, oftentimes economic language, that it does take time for some chapters to really dive into its content to the fullest.

Even if not finished, this book gives a great explanation on why people are increasingly exiting the current financial system for something new. It focuses on the Why: people are finally realizing that their money is not theirs, and that the real owners are abusing the money printer. Moreover, this book becomes an eye-opening guide to effect if this money printer does happen to go on…And what must be done now for a brighter future.

Highly suggested.
